50 Ways Federation – and its Partner Agencies – Make a Difference

Thanks to your involvement, Federation and its partner agencies have provided so much for so many in its efforts to build Jewish community. In 50 years, the needs and priorities may have changed, but our mission remains the same – to provide meaningful and quality opportunities for the Jewish community to strengthen, grow and prosper.

In honor of our 50th anniversary, here are 50 ways Federation and its partner agencies make a difference in the lives of our community – in the greater Palm Beaches, Israel and beyond.

  1. Bringing dignity, hope and comfort to people’s lives
  2. Creating a caring, open and vibrant local Jewish community
  3. Planning for the ongoing and future needs of the Jewish community
  4. Funding Israel and overseas initiatives
  5. Feeding those in need through kosher community food pantries, Meals-on-Wheels, holiday luncheons and meals delivered to the homebound
  6. Providing educational programs to ensure a Jewish future
  7. Ensuring that our traditions are preserved for future generations
  8. Creating meaningful activities and opportunities for advocacy through the Jewish Community Relations Council
  9. Offering financial aid to families who are sending their children to Jewish overnight camps throughout the country
  10. Enhancing the reading skills of elementary-age students through the Anne & Sam Klein Jewish Coalition for Literacy
  11. Providing, promoting and developing Jewish traditions, culture and identity
  12. Working to fulfill the Jewish value of tikkun olam (Hebrew for repair of the world), especially during disasters and crises
  13. Offering a continuum of residential services for adults with developmental disabilities, chronic mental illness and learning difficulties
  14. Providing superior Jewish educational experiences, resources and tools to schools, synagogues, organizations and individuals
  15. Aiding elderly, financially needy clients of our community
  16. Providing young adults the opportunity to experiences Israel and connect to their Jewish roots
  17. Representing the organized Jewish community to elected officials, and the Jewish and non-Jewish communities
  18. Ensuring that funds are allocated responsibly and for maximum impact
  19. Planning, staffing and supporting missions to Israel and Jewish communities throughout the world
  20. Presenting a wide range of local and national Jewish issues on Mosaic, the only Federation-funded television program in North America.
  21. Supporting synagogues by providing programs that enhance social, communal and spiritual connections through the Synagogue Institute
  22. Engaging and developing high-performance volunteer and professional leaders
  23. Providing resources for lobbying efforts in Tallahassee for state grants and funds
  24. Providing social, welfare and justice programs, and educational experiences in Israel and around the world
  25. Promoting Jewish identity through Jewish Zionist education
  26. Creating social and educational programs to connect Jewish youth to each other and the local community through the Jewish Teen Initiative
  27. Helping new immigrants in Israel
  28. Creating partnerships between Israel and the diaspora
  29. Developing and implementing social, cultural and educational programs that enhance Judaism for the Jewish people of St. Petersburg, Russia
  30. Funding projects that enhance Jewish identity and meet spiritual and social service needs
  31. Providing comprehensive educational services for vulnerable populations in Israel
  32. Actively promoting economic development and “living bridge” relationships with our extended family in Israel’s Tzahar Region through Partnership 2Gether
  33. Reaching out and engaging the Jewish community – at home and around the world
  34. Providing innovative programs and classes on Israel, Jewish history, family life, holidays, current events, culture and spirituality – for all ages and interest levels – through The Ewa & Dan Abraham Project
  35. Inspiring and developing the next generation of future leaders of our community through the Emerging Leaders Project and Next Gen Palm Beach
  36. Funding grants to improve the status of Jewish women and girls here at home and overseas through the Jewish Women’s Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches.
  37. Subsidizing a wide variety of aging-in-place services – home health care, case management, adult day care, bath visits, medication management and counseling
  38. Fulfilling the spiritual needs of our community, visiting hospitals, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, prisons and facilities for the disabled through the Chaplaincy program
  39. Developing motivation, self-esteem and self-confidence in 6- to 18-year-old children in Israel’s Tzahar Region through Youth Futures
  40. Offering top-quality education with a Jewish curriculum to kindergarteners in the former Soviet Union
  41. Providing the opportunity for Russian city-based children, mostly from lower socio-economic backgrounds, to spend two to six weeks in the countryside, developing Jewish identity
  42. Providing comprehensive early childhood services to hundreds of Ethiopian-Israeli children, birth to six years old
  43. Supporting after-school programming and outreach centers for middle- and high school-age Ethiopian-Israeli teens
  44. Providing children with special needs with medical assistance, reduced-cost medications and loans of medical equipment in St. Petersburg, Russia
  45. Strengthening Jewish identity for tens of thousands of Jewish college students in our state
  46. Strengthening synagogues as critical aspects of life in Palm Beach County
  47. Identifying priorities for moving our Jewish community forward to maintain a vibrant Jewish future
  48. Making a Jewish education accessible and affordable
  49. Creating Jewish legacies to benefit future generations
  50. Raising funds from generous donors to make this – and so much more – possible
