Centennial Schechter Awards Commendation
Temple Torah of West Boynton Beach (TTWBB) was among 40 congregations across the country recognized with a Centennial Schechter Commendation at the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism General Assembly on October 14, 2013. Rabbi Edward C. Bernstein and Cantor Zachary Mondrow accepted the award in-person in Baltimore, MD.
The award was granted for the temple's "Shabbat With a Twist" Siddur, for which funding was provided by the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, through a grant from the organization's Synagogue Institute.
"Shabbat with a Twist" combines prayer, music, inspiration, culture and fun.
"Temple Torah strives to make Jewish tradition rich and meaningful for all," said Rabbi Bernstein. "Our new 'Shabbat With a Twist' Siddur has helped bring Shabbat closer to so many in our congregation. I am grateful to Federation for its generous support that enabled us to produce this fine work that has now been recognized nationally."
"Federation's help on this project was greatly appreciated and timely," said Alan Aronson, president of TTWBB.
"Shabbat with a Twist" is just one example of how Jewish life is being invigorated, synagogues strengthened and a deeper level of engagement between synagogues and Federation established in Palm Beach County.
