More than 25 women enjoyed an opportunity to mix & mingle at an event on Tuesday, June 18 hosted by Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County’s Young Women’s Group. Held at Verdea Restaurant and Wine Bar in Palm Beach Gardens, they gathered for an evening of sisterhood – to unwind and to give back to those in need of help in our community – collecting over 65 lbs. of travel-sized toiletries.

“It was great to see new faces,” said Lisa Seymour, Women’s Philanthropy board member and member of Federation’s National Young Leadership Cabinet. “I hope this grows into a group of women who love getting together to make our community a better place.”

The Young Women’s Group met for the second time on Friday, June 21 at The Lord’s Place in West Palm Beach. They served meals at Café Joshua and assembled their collection of items into hygiene kits which will be distributed to assist the Palm Beach County Community.

“Hygiene kits, as simple as they may seem, are often the first act of kindness The Lord’s Place can offer a new client,” said Diana Stanley, Chief Executive Officer of The Lord’s Place. “They are even more special when they are collected lovingly by a group of women in our community, who realize the importance of this basic need.”

The Federation system believes in tikkun olam, humanity’s shared responsibility to heal, repair and transform the world. The Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County strives to create a strong, inspired, caring community that helps those less fortunate regardless of culture, religion or gender.

The revitalized Young Women’s Group will be dedicated to providing education, programs and events for women in their 30’s and 40’s. The group will host a variety of social action activities throughout the year that captures Federation’s commitment to enrich Jewish life, care for vulnerable populations and build global Jewish community.

Jennifer Lesser, Women’s Philanthropy Vice President of Young Women, along with Beth Wayne, Rachel Beige and Yael Lawrence co-chaired these events.
