Federation’s Luis Fleischman to present at Global Forum for Combating Anti-Semitism in Jerusalem
As vice president of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) – the advocacy arm of Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County – Dr. Luis Fleischman has spearheaded local efforts to combat anti-Semitism and promote dialogue between the Jewish community and other faiths.
Now, he’s being called upon to bring his efforts onto a global stage.
This year, Dr. Fleischman is one of the only JCRC directors in North America to be invited to the Global Forum for Combating Anti-Semitism (GFCA) in Jerusalem, the premier gathering for exchange of knowledge and for formulating the global work plan for combating anti-Semitism. The GFCA invites public figures, political leaders, heads of civil society, clergy, journalists, diplomats, educators and concerned citizens to the discuss tactics to defeat anti-Semitism and other forms of racial and ethnic hatred.
At the forum (May 12-15, 2015), Dr. Fleischman will discuss a number of topics including anti-Semitism in Latin America, anti-Semitism in the guise of de-legitimization and anti-Zionism, and interfaith dialogue as a means for mitigating anti-Semitism.
Recent JCRC programs include a panel of Middle East experts, a forum on global anti-Semitism, an interfaith gleaning project, and a seminar preparing high school students to respond to anti-Israel activity on college campuses.
