Federation Battles Food Insecurity
Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County considers alleviating hunger and food insecurity of paramount importance in our work to care for vulnerable populations.
Through generous donations to Federation’s Annual Campaign, we are addressing food insecurity in Palm Beach County, Israel and other communities around the world.
Palm Beach County is home to one of the nation’s largest populations of frail, elderly Jews with limited family support and financial means. Here's how we are working together to help them:
- The kosher Meals-on-Wheels program delivers meals weekly to homebound seniors throughout Palm Beach County
- The Homebound Mitzvah Program provides meal deliveries, holiday items and video-taped services during Rosh Hashanah and Passover
- Albert Jewish Family and Children’s Service (AJFCS) – Federation’s social service partner agency – operates the community’s Kosher Food Pantry for people experiencing serious financial difficulties
On an international level, Federation and our partner agency American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) provide a monthly food card for Jewish families in places like Ukraine and St. Petersburg to shop at local supermarkets and put food on their tables with dignity.
