Federation mourns loss of IDF soldier & friend, Hadar Goldin
Federation is heartbroken to hear of the loss of IDF Second Lieutenant Hadar Goldin. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones, including his sister, Ayelet Kaufman – a close friend of Jewish Palm Beach.
Hadar, 23, was feared abducted by Hamas militants in Gaza, but was determined to have been killed in action early Sunday (August 3).
You may have met Hadar's sister, Ayelet, during one of her frequent visits to Palm Beach County. Ayelet is Federation’s Living Bridge Coordinator and coordinates youth leadership programs for Palm Beach County in Israel. She and her family also host delegations from our community.
A few weeks before being assigned to Gaza, Hadar was engaged to be married. His twin brother, Tzur, is currently serving in Operation Protective Edge. Their father, Simha, is an officer in the IDF reserves. Both of Hadar’s grandfathers were Holocaust survivors.
In October 2013, Hadar was interviewed by the Israel National News. He emphasized his love of Israel.
“In life, you can choose to do things for yourself and you can choose to do great things,” Hadar said.
Please join us in sending thoughts and prayers to Hadar, Ayelet and their family.
Let other people know about this tragic loss of a member of our extended Federation family. Lives are being shattered by this fighting.
May Hadar's memory be for a blessing. And may this terrible conflict end soon.
Stand strong with Israel.
