Statement on Jerusalem Synagogue Attack
Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County is horrified and alarmed by the shocking attack on a synagogue in Jerusalem on Tuesday, November 18. While any loss of innocent lives is tragic, this attack on a house of worship is particularly deplorable.
We call on the global community to join us in expressing outrage and grief by condemning this senseless, cowardly act of violence. This cold-blooded and brutal attack on civilians gathered in prayer took the lives of five innocent men and injured several others.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and students of the men killed in the attack: Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Goldberg, 58; Rabbi Aryeh Kopinsky, 43; Rabbi Moshe Twersky, 59; Rabbi Calman Levine, 55; and Officer Zidan Saif, 30, of the Jerusalem District Police, who bravely sacrificed his life to protect others.
May their memory be for a blessing.
We wish a speedy recovery to those who remain physically injured and emotionally scarred from the attack.
We pray for a time of peace.
