Third Graders Organize Zoo Project at Meyer Academy

It was a zoo at Meyer Academy – literally!

Meyer Academy third grade students transformed the school’s media center into an animal exhibit, with students taking on the physical appearance and demeanor of their chosen animal – each with an accompanying video they created.

Students from other classes visited the zoo, including preschoolers from the Mandel JCC Kay Early Childhood Learning Center – located next door to Meyer Academy.

“The animal zoo is a cross-curricular project incorporating language arts, performing arts, science and technology, and is a beautiful example of children teaching children and educational technology being used in an effective way to enhance the learning process,” said Richard Brummer, Media Specialist at Meyer Academy.

The learning was shared as various student groups visited the zoo including the pre-K classes at the Mandel JCC Kay Early Childhood Learning Center.
