Meyer Academy students experiment with drone technology
Meyer Academy's new home is beautiful from any angle – but students got firsthand experience with how to capture breathtaking images of their school from the sky with cutting-edge technology.
Eighth grade students from Meyer Academy’s innovative middle school science program enjoyed an immersive experience experimenting with drone technology. Students got an informative and highly revealing glimpse in drone technology from Norman Hirsch, CEO of NH&A, a local security company.
Utilizing a Phantom 2 drone, state-of-the-art tracking software and high definition goggles, students experimented with drones that are currently being used today by both individual hobbyists and commercial businesses.
The demonstration aligned with Meyer Academy’s emerging technology unit, as students have been researching and discussing potential uses and pitfalls of drones and remote operated aircraft.
