Meet Phillip, teen Israel experience participant
When Phillip was 17, he embarked on a trip to Israel with Federation’s Bonim Chaim program. For one month, he volunteered with at-risk immigrants, explored the rich history of the country and even lived with an Israeli family.
Phillip witnessed the people of Israel join together and mourn three boys whose capture and tragic deaths were reported around the world. When he returned home to Palm Beach County, Phillip saw it as his duty to share with people what he learned while embedded in the Israeli community. In front of 500 people at a memorial for the three boys in Palm Beach County, he described the ordeal from his perspective as an American teen in Israel.
Today, Phillip continues to embrace his role as an advocate for Israel by engaging with the Jewish community as president of his high school’s Jewish Student Connection club.
