Taking Action in Tzahar
After three months of working together, students from the Arthur I. Meyer Jewish Academy and Tzfat’s Begin School met face-to-face as part of the Mifgash Zikaron (Memory Encounter). Classes on both sides of the ocean had spent time learning the life stories of fallen soldiers and reaching out to their families as pen pals; how wonderful it was to put faces to the names they had learned so much about!
From an evening on the shore of the Sea of Galilee to spending Yom HaZikaron at school, the military cemetery for an emotional ceremony to sing, read, and put flowers on grades, and singing “Hatikvah” in front of the Israeli flag, the students shared a day of commemoration like no other.
In Rosh Pina, they were able to see their “Mega Flags” for Yom Ha’Atzmaut – the pennants that they had each made. In Israel, the flags are exposed to tens of thousands of people driving along Road 90 over a two-week period; flags also hung in our community at the Israel@65 Celebration at the Palm Beach Convention Center on April 21.
