Where in the world is Mazel The Shabbat Puppy?

image

Mazel The Shabbat Puppy and other beloved PJ Library® characters come to life at the Lorraine and Jack N. Friedman Commission for Jewish Education of the Palm Beaches (Friedman CJE). Mazel, along with Sammy Spider, Bim & Bom and Flat Joseph teach Jewish values and bring joy to classrooms across our community.

As part of Friedman CJE’s Traveling Curriculum Project, Mazel The Shabbat Puppy visited Temple Beth Am and Friedman CJE’s J.N. Somers YAD Hebrew School for Children with Special Needs. While there, teachers used the story and the Traveling Curriculum kit to teach children about caring for animals, respect for grandparents, Shabbat observances, and many other Jewish ideals and traditions. This year’s Traveling Curriculum Project includes collaboration with Peggy Adams Animal League and other area animal shelters and nature preserves.

Mazel is at Temple Beth Torah and Temple Shaarei Shalom in January. A special treat is in store for Temple Beth Torah’s Leonie Arguetty Preschool students who will have an opportunity when The Shabbat Puppy author Leslie Kimmelman joins via Skype during Mazel’s visit. In addition, the congregation will hold its annual Blessing of the Animals the evening of Saturday, January 25th…and Mazel will be included!
