Tikkun Olam Project
It's true, sales of a fold-and-go Vapur(R) water bottle are linking the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County with deserving children from Israel's Tzahar Region.
Vapur(R) water bottles are ultra-durable, flexible, and fit into basically anything, including pockets, purses and packs. What's not to like? Plus, the Federation's Jewish Teen Initiative and Jewish Student Unions are selling these fold-and-go water bottles, with proceeds funding a therapeutic greenhouse for children in the Youth Futures program in Rosh Pina, one of Federation's partnered communities (along with Tzfat and Hatzor Haglilit) in the Tzahar Region, in Israel's upper Galilee.
Youth Futures matches at-risk children ages 6-13 with professionally trained trustees. These children, many of whom have poor self-esteem, learning difficulties and are socially isolated, need support from these trustees, who serve as counselors, big brothers/big sisters, personal mentors as well as liaisons with the authorities and parents/caretakers.
The collaborative effort, involving Federation's Israel and Overseas Projects and the Lorraine & Jack N. Friedman Commission for Jewish Eduation, is already making a difference having raised more than $1,100 for the therapeutic greenhouse in just nine months!
